our policies
We operate on a 48 week per year calendar and tuition is a flat monthly fee. This results in some months having 3 or 5 weeks but monthly tuition remaining the same as it evens out over the course of a year. This is a standard practice for local music schools such as Vinyl.
We will be closed the week of Thanksgiving, as well as 2 weeks during Christmas/New Years and on July 4th, wherever it falls, referencing Colleton County’s school calendar. The Monday holidays recognized by CCSD we will also be closed, makeup lessons for those holidays only will be issued.
We are open during the summer. Students are highly encouraged to remain enrolled as to keep their momentum going and retain their time slot with their instructor which cannot be guaranteed if they un-enroll. Additional make up credits may be offered through the summer.
We follow Colleton County school district for weather-related closures. Make-up credits will be issued if lessons are cancelled due to inclement weather.
Unpaid breaks in lessons are not permitted. If your student needs to temporarily stop lessons due to a seasonal conflict, you must continue to pay the tuition if you want to hold your spot with your instructor. If you withdraw and re-enroll later, there is no guarantee that another spot will still be available with your same instructor or on your desired instrument, and you will have to repay the registration fee.
Payments are taken as an auto-draft by credit card or bank transfer. Payments are taken on the 2nd of each month following your first month’s payment and one-time $50 registration fee. Your first month will be pro-rated if you begin lessons in the middle of the month, the registration fee is still required.
If a payment is more than 14 days late, a $25 late fee will be added automatically. However, because everyone is set up with recurring payments, this is rarely an issue. You can change your payment method through the student portal on My Music Staff.
Lessons are scheduled at the same time every week and you are committed to that time slot. Cancellations and rescheduling must be made at least 24 hours in advance. This includes sickness and emergencies. Students are allowed up to two reschedules within a 60-day period. When possible, a different instructor may cover a make-up session. We will make every attempt to make up a lesson.
Cancellations and reschedules must be done through the student portal on My Music Staff. Once a make-up lesson is scheduled by the parent/student, it cannot be rescheduled again. If a make-up lesson is scheduled and then canceled, the credit will be forfeited within the system. For weather-related closures or instructor absences where no substitute teacher is available, a make-up credit is automatically issued.
Instructors will communicate the individual needs for the students. Instructors may ask students/parents to purchase curriculum such as lesson books, etc., these items are usually inexpensive. Each instructor will teach their own preferred curriculum catered to the student. Students should have their own instrument at home to practice. Guitar and violin students should bring their own instrument to lessons. Keyboards and drums will be provided at lessons for piano and drum students.
If parents are present in the lobby after a lesson, instructors will give a quick progress update. Questions about student progress should be directed to your instructor, but any questions regarding payment or scheduling should be directed to Vinyl administration staff.
There will be opportunities throughout the year to sign up for public performances based on experience level and instructor recommendations. All students will have opportunities, but certain events/performances will be designated for more experienced students. All performances must be committed through our software portal on My Music Staff.
A 30 day written notice is required for withdrawal and you are responsible for tuition during that period. This gives us time to fill your time slot before we have to stop compensating our instructor for that time. This notice can be sent to info@vinylmusicschool.com.
If your final notice takes you through a partial month, a pro-rated invoice will be sent to you. If you re-enroll after withdrawing, you must repay the $50 registration fee.
